KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang has denied using an Approved Permit (AP) to import any car and has described the allegation by Malaysian Democratic Party secretary-general Wee Choo Keong as “not true.”

“I have never used an AP to import car and I reserve the right to take legal action against him for making and spreading the defamatory statement,” he said when commenting on Wee’s report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) on Tuesday over the APs for car imports purportedly issued to Lim.

In a statement, Lim said Wee had proven himself to be a desperate politician who had no qualms in lodging an ACA report without any basis.

He said 4,393 individual APs were issued to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultans, state governors, the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, Royal Australian Air Force members, members of foreign embassies, participants of the Malaysia My Second Home Programme under the Tourism Ministry and Malaysian citizens who worked or studied abroad between January 2000 and May 31 this year.
