Sharifah Aini insists she was assaulted

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Sharifah Aini Syed Jaafar has maintained that she was assaulted by two men in front of Sri Pentas, TV3's headquarters in Bandar Utama, at 8.30pm on Thursday. 

The singer, who still looked weak, told reporters this when asked to comment on news reports that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recording did not show the two men and the motorcycle as claimed by her, but only showed her Mercedes-Benz S420 car. 

Sharifah Aini, who was met at her ward at Damansara Specialist Hospital, said it was possible that during the struggle with the two men the CCTV camera might have been facing elsewhere. 

“Probably the view of the CCTV had been moved by my attackers to avoid identification ? who knows?” she said. 

The singer is reported to be in stable condition after her injury and trauma from the alleged attack. 

In the incident, Sharifah Aini claimed that she was injected twice on her back and hand with an unknown liquid before being left by her attackers on the roadside. 

Recounting the incident, she said her attackers pulled her by her hair and dragged her to the back of the car. 

“I fell down and it was then that they injected me on my back,” she said. 

Asked about the possibility that she was making up the story about the attack, she refuted it, saying that there was no reason for her to lie to seek publicity. 

Sharifah Aini said she was on her way to her aunt's house in Damansara Utama to perform terawih prayers before the incident occurred. 

She said she was leaving it to the police to investigate. – Bernama
