KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Ministry deputy secretary-general Datuk Talaat Hussain has been promoted to secretary-general effective yesterday.
He replaces Datuk Mahamad Zabri Min, who retired yesterday.
Talaat's appointment was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Samsudin Osman in a statement.
Taalat, 52, held various key government posts including Ipoh Datuk Bandar before being appointed deputy secretary-general on Dec 3 last year.
Talaat is succeeded by the Education Ministry's National Accreditation Board secretary Nik Mahmud Nik Yusof.
Other appointments include Datuk Ramlan Othman's promotion to the Defence Ministry deputy secretary-general post last Wednesday.
He was Sabah Federal Development Office director in the Prime Minister's Department prior to the appointment.
Ramlan, 53, replaced Datuk Subhan Jasmon, who was promoted to Defence Ministry secretary-general last Wednesday.
The Economic Planning Unit's Management Service director Adzmy Abdullah, 51, took over Ramlan's previous post.
London Economic Affairs minister-counsellor of the International Trade and Industry Ministry, Kamaludin Othman, 52, was appointed senior director of the ministry's Bilateral/Regional Relations Division effective last Wednesday.
He succeeded Ismail Saleh, who has been transferred to the ministry's Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation effective Sept 16.
Bentong district officer Abu Hassan Abd Rahman, 54, has been appointed Pahang deputy state secretary effective today, replacing Datuk Mohd Mohidin Seman, who retires today. – Bernama
