Taib heads Sarawak Governor’s honours list


KUCHING: Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud heads 421 recipients of state honours and awards in conjunction with Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abang Muhamad Salahuddin’s 82th birthday today. 

Taib is the second recipient so far of the Satria Bintang Sarawak (SBS) that carries the title Pehin Sri. 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the first recipient of SBS. 

Jeddah-based Dallah Al-Baraka group president Saleh Abdullah Kamel is the only recipient of Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (Honorary), which carries the title Datuk Seri. 

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Norian Mai is the sole recipient of Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak, which carries the title of Datuk. 

Dallah Al-Baraka group senior vice-president Mahmoud Jamil Hassoubah receives the Panglima Gemnilang Bintang Kenyalang (Honorary), which carries the title Datuk.  

 

State Assistant Minister for Tourism Peter Nyarok Entrie and Jepak assemblyman and Sarawak Economic Development Corp chairman Talib Zulpilip both receive the PGBK, which carries the title of Datuk. 

 

The sole recipient of Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak, which carries the title Datu, is state education director Mohammed Sabil. 

 

Taiyo Uden Co Ltd's Katsumasa Omae receives the Pingat Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (Honorary) award, which carries the title Dato.
