Putin arrived here on Monday for a two-day official visit.

Dr Mahathir said it was a great honour to receive the award.

“It is the first Russian award I have ever received. It is for the work and friendship, and the work we have done in developing countries as well as to strengthen the relations between Malaysia and Russia,” he told reporters after the talks.

Putin’s visit was to reciprocate Dr Mahathir’s visit to Russia last year.
