Exemption likely for software

PETALING JAYA: Computer software is expected to be exempted from the Government’s move to impose price controls on optical disc products, announced late last month. 

Sources said deputy secretary-general Syed Mestaddin Syed Abdullah indicated at a meeting on Friday between the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry and representatives of the music, movie and software industries that the Government had decided to exempt software products.
