MANILA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has informed Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo that Malaysia is considering Manila’s request for an observer team to oversee a ceasefire between government forces and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Foreign Secretary Blas Ople said Abdullah did not discuss the details of the ceasefire team but offered the guess that it would be composed of not more than 25 military and police personnel from Malaysia and other members of the Organisation of Islamic Conference countries.
