JEREMY Hunt was UK prime minister in all but name last week, and now he will get a real shot at becoming the country’s premier with Liz Truss’s resignation. But he has said "No". Will this be the end for British politics' comeback kid?

As Bloomberg's columnist Adrian Wooldridge wrote in his op-ed before the prime minister's resignation, Truss was nothing more than a spectre walking the corridors of power, occasionally wailing and clanking her chains. On Monday, she didn’t even take an “urgent question” – posed by Labour – on what on earth is going on, leaving the job to her former leadership rival, Penny Mordaunt. She also turned up late and looked miserable. On Thursday, she was gone.
