BUKU Jalanan Chow Kit’s Sunday classes are held at the loading bay of Wisma Alka Ria at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, where the lighting is poor. The students have to rely on street lamps for light. Unfortunately, such lighting is not adequate; besides, it casts a yellow tinge on everything, their books included.
To solve the lighting problem, ELS Language Centres donated 22 mini solar LED lights to the group in June to facilitate learning. The lights are part of the centre’s Light Up initiative, launched last November to commemorate its 25th anniversary in Malaysia.
