Lecturer bags gold for DBA

TOP doctorate student Dr Mohammad Falahat Nejahadmani has received the Universiti Sains Malaysia Gold Medal Award for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

The Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) Accountancy and Management Faculty assistant professor received the prestigious award from Motorcycle & Scooter Assemblers And Distributors Association of Malaysia president Datuk Syed Mohamad Aidid.

Originally from Kerman, Iran, he came to Malaysia in 2003 to oversee a project between Kish University in Iran and Multimedia University.

He found Malaysia appealing and decided to pursue his MBA in Technology Management here.

“I was not even considering furthering my studies until I came here,” he said.

Upon completion of his DBA, he chose the path of an academic and became a part of Utar’s team early this year.

He believes there are opportunities to continuously pursue a lifelong learning experience at the varsity due to its academic quality and leadership.

“I enjoy teaching and interacting with the students,” said Dr Mohammad Falahat.

He feels the need to give back to Malaysia which has treated him well and given him so much.

“I see myself as someone who is giving back and contributing to both the economy and development of this country.

“I see this teaching opportunity as a chance to give back,” he said.

When asked about the outlook of the country’s higher education sector, he commented that Malaysia has an added advantage by being strategically located in Asia.

He also felt that the variety of programmes offered made it enticing for students from the region to continue their studies here.

“If we are to look at the best business school in the world and direction that they are moving towards to, we see that they are moving towards specialisations that contribute to the economy and industry.

“Malaysian universities have positioned themselves very well in Asia and for further enhancement, they should benchmark with the best universities in the world.” — By REBECCA RAJAENDRAM
