Colonel Tun Sir Henry Lee Hau Shik, affectionately remembered as H.S. Lee, arrived in Malaya in 1924 to take over his family’s tin-mining business in Kepong and subsequently rose to fame in Malaysian politics in his role as the country’s first finance minister in 1957 as well as founder of China Press in 1946.
