Kuantan on the fast track

Many colonial-style buildings still stand along Jalan Besar.

Known as the gateway to the east coast of peninsular Malaysia, Kuantan is a prominent and rapidly developing modern town that had humble beginnings.

Today, it is known as a major trade, commerce, tourism and transportation hub. However, what is known as the greater region of the town centre could be traced back to a tiny settlement established more than a century ago.
