Sandy shower irks folk Villagers see red over air pollution due to blasting works

IT IS literally ‘raining sand’ in Kampung Masjid in Bukit Tambun, Batu Kawan, on mainland Penang following blasting works at a quarry site about 500m away from the village.

Fisherman Mohd Salim Yaacob, 49, said the 200 residents at the more-than-a-century-old village had been putting up with the problem for over three years.
