Homegrown talent: Veteran rockers Kyoto Protocol were in their element during the event.

MUSIC fans raised their pints in the air and sang along as the Guinness Amplify Live Tour kicked off with a bang at The Bee, Publika in Kuala Lumpur.

Special guest star, US singer-songwriter Howie Day, known for his smash-hit singles Collide and She Says, wowed the crowd as he took the stage alongside local music legends Kyoto Protocol and Paperplane Pursuit in a celebration of Music Made of More.

Setting the stage for future Guinness Amplify live Tour gigs, fans enjoyed a night of incredible music from the talented, dedicated, and passionate artists selected to be part of the new campaign.

Music Made of More features 14 amazing Malaysian acts supported by international special guest stars in a series of six free-admission gigs in outlets around the Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor, topped off with a unique grand finale show in Kuala Lumpur.

Rising stars Paperplane Pursuit were first to wow the audience with their upbeat, high-energy set, which got the crowd moving and ready to rock out. Continuing the theme of a night of music more than the ordinary, in addition to playing a selection of their well-known hits that have been taking the airwaves by storm, the band surprised and delighted the audience with their unique take on Outkast’s Hey Ya!.

Legendary local rockers Kyoto Protocol were next to take the stage, treating the audience to a rare acoustic set featuring the crowd-pleasing anthem Give Me Nothing and their incredible new single Dispensable. They also shared a taste of their musical inspirations with a passionate rendition of the Pearl Jam classic Jeremy, proving beyond all doubt the talent, range and versatility of the five-piece band from Kuala Lumpur.

Special guest star Howie Day, the singer-songwriter from Maine in the US, put the finishing touches on an incredible evening of music as the headline act.

Taking the crowd through a nostalgic journey with his smash hits, the phenomenally-talented Day played a mix of his classics and some more recent numbers in a passionate, emotional and powerful set.

Throughout the evening, lucky Guinness fans earned themselves exclusive, money-can’t-buy passes to the Grand Finale showcase at the end of the campaign, as well as enjoying all-night-long special promos on Guinness Draught and Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.
