KUCHING: Universities have a responsibility to develop competent researchers who can play a leading role in social and economic development.

Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus pro vice-chancellor Prof Anthony Cahalan said Malaysia had set a target of having 60,000 PhD holders by 2023.
