Flexpro show their zeal

Champion's team Flexpro Zeal cheered after winning RM 16,080 worthed of products medals, winner¿s and challenge trophy in the Modesliga Badminton League (Kepong Zone) at Powerful Sports Arena, Kepong

Favourites Flexpro Zeal and Team NSD were forced into a deciding mixed doubles match to decide who emerged champions after a 2-2 tie in the Modesliga Badminton League (Kepong Zone).

Pressure was on the mixed doubles to deliver the winning point as both sides showed brilliant badminton skills after four doubles matches.

Held at Powerful Sports Arena in Kepong, the nail-biting decider saw Flexpro’s Teng Xin Ru and Xzavier Loh lead their team to victory after beating NSD’s Goh Mun Chun and Nirvashsa Vignes 21-15, 21-19.

Loh said the inaugural partnership with Teng during this competition was not a gamble as they trained regularly.

“I have not partnered Teng before, but we work well together on court.

“Teng had good control at the net while we tried to utilise the court fully by pushing our opponents to the edge of it.

“I was not nervous during the matches as I have been in the competitive arena for some time now. We are glad that we delivered the winning point for the team,” he said.

In the league final, two men’s doubles open matches were played, followed by the junior veteran men’s doubles, veteran men’s doubles and mixed doubles in a best-of-three format.

Flexpro lost 21-15, 21-14 in the first men’s doubles open to NSD’s Mohd Razlan and Nur Akmal Rumsani.

The former team bounced back and claimed victory in the second men’s doubles open and junior veteran men’s doubles in straight sets and led 2-1.

However, NSD veterans Ku Boon Yann and Ting Chee Kien fought back and won the first set 26-24, before cruising to victory in the second 21-9, to make it 2-2 in the final.

In third place was Team YSports Maxx, who defeated Team Racqueteer 3-2.

YSports Maxx led 2-1 after winning one of the men’s doubles open and junior veteran men’s doubles, but lost the other men’s doubles open.

Racqueteer’s Tam Tiong Hui and Tung Chih Yung tamed YSports’ Chew Chin Kim and Mohd Norlizam in the veteran men’s doubles, winning 21-14, 21-8.

Muhd Sufiyuddin and Nur Syahira from YSports Maxx delivered the winning point against Lee Wei Luan and Tan Pei Syean by winning 21-16, 21-18.

As champions of the tournament, Flexpro collected RM16,080 worth of prizes and the challenge trophy, while NSD were awarded RM6,000 worth of prizes. YSports Maxx won RM3,160 worth of prizes.

Flexpro is the title sponsor, while Revive and Vico are the official beverages. SKG World and VCS AV Connection Sdn Bhd are the main sponsors of the league. Other sponsors include QQ (M) Sdn Bhd, Ultimate Achievers and Powerful Sports Arena.
