IPOH Parade shopping centre now boasts a mothercare room to enable parents to attend to their toddlers’ needs in comfort.
Ipoh Parade centre manager Chan Yu Yin said the new facility was furnished and equipped with various amenities, including diaper-changing stations, nursing rooms as well as toilets for children.
“There are four diaper changing stations and two nursing rooms for mothers to breastfeed their babies.
“We also have a warm water dispenser for parents to prepare milk for their children,” he said, adding that the room, measuring about 70sqm in size, was able to accomodate several families at a time.
“We are a community-focused mall that delivers what its patrons’ want and need.
“The room is a convenience to both the parents and children,” he told The Star during a visit to the facility.
Chan also said the room was designed with the safety of children in mind.
“We did not use furniture with sharp edges and the room is also user-friendly,” he said, adding that the room is open daily from 10am to 10pm.
“We also used colourful wallpaper, featuring Walk Disney characters to bring cheer to the children,” he added.
Apart from the mothercare room, Chan said the shopping centre has also refurbished its prayer rooms for the convenience of Muslim patrons.
The newly upgraded prayer rooms, he said, was completed with various amenities, including a washing area and a prayer hall.
“There are also two separate rooms for both men and women, with each of the rooms measuring about 55sqm in size.
“There are also pigeon-hole shoe racks and lockers for patrons to keep their belongings while they perform their prayers,” he said.
“We are also providing slippers and prayer mats and each room can accommodate about 25 people at one time,” he added.
Chan said the prayer rooms were refurbished with motifs to make for a truly serene space for solemn contemplation.
“The room is open daily from 12.30pm to 9pm and as such tenants and patrons alike need not go out from the shopping centre to perform their prayers,” he said.
