Lemanak, Engkari folk reject proposal to develop NCR land in Lubuk Antu

KUCHING: About 10 longhouses in Lemanak and Engkari areas in Lubuk Antu are turning down proposals by Maju Niaga Hijau Sdn Bhd to build a road, erect power cables, plant oil palm and extract timber there.

Land rights activist Nicholas Bawin said he just met some concerned folk saying that the purported development suggested by the company would be a means to encroach their native customary rights (NCR) land.
