Gerald Jabu replaces Dennis Kanyan, other top PBB posts uncontested

KUCHING: Gerald Rentap Jabu is PBB Youth’s new deputy chief, an upgrade from his previous secretary-general post of the wing.

He won uncontested after his name was the only one nominated by several parties before the closing of nomination yesterday.

PBB permanent chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar told a press conference here yesterday said the vacant secretary-general post would be appointed.

The outgoing deputy Dennis Jubang Kanyan, Asfia said, would be offered another post in the party. Dennis said he was happy to make way for Gerald.

Meanwhile, Datuk Fadillah Yusof retained his Youth Chief post uncontested.

As for the vice-chiefs, a quota of two was allocated for the Pesaka side and one for the Bumiputra side.

Asfia said four names had been nominated for the vice-chief posts to contest for the Bumiputra post. They are Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, Halmi Morsili, Abdul Aziz Adenan and Haidel Heli.

As for the Pesaka side, four names were nominated. They are Stanley Sila, Henry Kilau Talek, Bell Bernard Aggan and Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

“Election is inevitable,” said Asfia.

As for the 15 Youth supreme council posts, 20 names had been nominated for the Bumiputra quota of eight and 19 names nominated for the seven Pesaka posts.

For the PBB Wanita wing, Senator Puan Sri Empiang Jabu and Datuk Fatimah Abdullah won their respective chief and deputy chief posts uncontested.

Vice-chief posts were also won uncontested by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim, Senator Dayang Madinah Tun Openg and Datin Catherine Gramong Isa.

For the supreme council members, the eight posts for the Bumiputra side went uncontested. However, nine names had been nominated out of seven posts for the Pesaka side.

“The two Bidayuh and two Orang Ulu quota came uncontested. The names are Esther Mujan Balan and Angela Jinget (Bidayuh), and Jenny Jita Eyir and Roszuina Labet (Orang Ulu).

“Four names have been nominated for the three Iban quota — Datin Senorita Linang, Lindalyn Kawi, Elizabeth Nail Wen, Natasha Nasa Douglas Uggah and Phyllis Empina Tanggai,” said Asfia.

He said the casting of the lot would be held tomorrow at 11am at the party’s headquarters in Jalan Bako, Petra Jaya, followed by the polls on Oct 18 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
