Gateway to region's progress

SIBU: Its strategic location means Sibu can be the gateway to greater development in the central region.

In pointing this out, Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said Kanowit, Kapit and Mukah would gain when the areas between Samalaju in Bintulu, Tangung Manis in Mukah and Murum in Kapit were being developed for hydro dam projects and large scale agricultural and industrial projects.
