Music, fashion, arts, food and big names are among the attractions at Malaysia’s first ever Good Vibes Festival.

About 10,000 attendees, including 3,000 foreign arrivals from Singapore Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, are expected to flock to the much-anticipated festival on Aug 17.

The festival is expected to derive an estimated economic impact of RM16mil to Malaysia.

The event is organised by Future Sound Asia and supported by Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Exhibition and Convention Bureau under the Tourism and Culture Ministry.

Headlining are iconic international acts, The Smashing Pumpkins, Modest Mouse, Japandroids and Ash, who will play exclusively in Malaysia and will be joined by a slew of local acts such as Liyana Fizi and Kyoto Protocol.

Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) chief operating officer Zulkefli Sharif said, “Good Vibes Festival is the perfect example of a homegrown creation that showcases Malaysia’s ability in producing an experiential event of international standard.

“Our support of the event is a testament to the commitment in making Malaysia the major events destination in Asia.

“This public and private initiative will increase Malaysia’s international profile and complement Visit Malaysia Year 2014 promotional campaign,” he said.

Proudly Malaysian, Good Vibes Festival will transport the Sepang International Kart Circuit into a lively celebration of great music, chic fashion, unique art and culinary delights.

Festival-goers will have a ball exploring the festival’s three outdoor stages (blue, green and red), art installations, food village (GoodBites), and fashion exhibits (ChicVibes).

“We fully support Future Sound Asia’s efforts in organising Good Vibes Festival — a celebration of not just the music scene, but of its fans from all around the region. Malaysia has an irrefutable track record of hosting and creating major music festivals of world-class calibre.

“We are looking to support more homegrown events like Good Vibes Festival that will cultivate local pride and showcase Malaysia as a major events hub in the region,” added Malaysia Major Events general manager Tony Nagamaiah.
