Marathon prayers for goodwill

Men of peace: (from right) Losang, Ven Kai Ning and Ven Indaratana during the opening of the 48-hour non-stop mass chanting event at MBA centre in Burmah Road

The Joo Hean Hall of Malaysian Buddhist Association (MBA) centre in Burma Road, George Town, was filled with an aura when hundreds of devotees chanted in unison for world peace and harmony.

With clasped hands, they recited the ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ (Goddess of Mercy’s (Kuan Im) Heart Mantra) led by His Holiness the 18th Dromtug Rinpoche Losang Choekye Pelden (accepted to be the reincarnation of Dromtonpa, the Kadhampa Dharmaraja) from Taiwan who represented the Tibetan Buddhism sect.
