Readers of Star Rev’s online companion star-motoring.com will be familiar with the “What’s Your Problem?” column, whereby readers write in to seek answers to car problems they are facing.
Star-motoring.com has teamed up with The Otomotif College (TOC) to organise the “Care for Your Car” workshop at its main campus in Section 19, Petaling Jaya.
Not only will you get to meet the experts of TOC in person but the day-long workshop will help you on your way to being an informed user of the automobile, which has become such an important tool of personal mobility.
From diagnosing some car problems and finding their solutions, you will also learn how to save money via some simple preventive maintenance.
At the same time, you will discover what makes a car tick, get troubleshooting tips and either fix non-critical parts on your own or better tell your mechanic what ails your car.
Participants can sign up for any of the one-day workshops to be held on Sept 15, Oct 20, Nov 17, Dec 8; Jan 26 and Feb 23, 2013.
To ensure focused attention for the participants, each workshop will be limited to 30 people.
There is a registration fee of RM100 and participants are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
TOC says the cars it will use for the training programme may include the Mercedes-Benz C Class, BMW 3 Series, Toyota Camry, Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic Hybrid, and Proton Waja, Perdana and Saga.
TOC was founded as a college in 2005 and has been steadily establishing itself as a specialist college in automotive and motorsports education.
It had been awarded a five-star rating by the Skills Development Department under the Human Resource Ministry.
The college is one of the Private Accredited centres that has achieved excellence in “Mekanik Kenderaan Motor (P-115-1)” in 2011.
It has set up a second campus, called TOC Australia in Gold Coast, Australia.
TOC Australia allows students to be qualified under the Australian Qualification Training Framework, to achieve Cert 3 and Cert 4 in Automotive Technology as well as a Diploma in Automotive Management.
The Star Motor Carnival will be held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium from Sept 14 to 17 and is jointly organised by The Star and Cityneon Malaysia. Petronas Dagangan Bhd is the main sponsor for this four-day event and admission is free.
