Mizukami wins bachelor title

WHEN Josiah Mizukami, bachelor number 27, was announced the winner of the Cleo’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors 2011 contest, it came as no surprise to most people, especially to the screaming fans at the grand finale event.

Actor, host and model Mizukami, who turns 25 this year, was quoted from when the contest first started as saying that a challenge or competition is what keeps him motivated.

“When something is too easy, I lose interest but when something is difficult and people doubt me, it pushes me to do better,” he said.

He also joked that one thing superpower women should have is the ability to know what they wanted while for himself he would want to be able to time travel.

Mizukami, who is part Japanese and part Caucasian, said that the best part about his job was being paid to travel while the worst is the negative connotations and expectations that come with being a male model.

To him, a gentleman is someone who predicts and provides for others in need without them having to ask.

“A gentleman is someone who puts other people first,” Mizukami said, adding he aims to be like Tom Cruise when he is in his 50s because the superstar is intelligent and successful.

A group of Mizukami’s friends were also spotted in the crowd wearing white t-shirts bearing the words “Team Mizukami”, the name he threw to the crowd as he made his appearance on stage at the finale.

The event, which was held at Mist Club in Bangsar, saw a sizeable crowd, mostly dressed in the theme of The Roaring ‘20s with lots of bling and feathers on flirty and fun attires.

Though the event started late, many waited patiently throughout and had plenty of fun watching their favourite bachelors play various games with some lucky guests such as eating marshmallows off them and spelling out names of famous places using their bums.

Many also took the opportunity to take photographs with the boys whose occupations range from engineering to modelling during the event.
