But for Abbi Kanthasamy, it was an opportunity to snap pictures of the unsung heroes, who played an important role in the success of the championship.
Abbi, who has about 30 years experience in photography, was at the KLGCC and managed to capture some exciting moments.
“The caddies, spectators and support staff were interesting characters who embodied the sporting spirit,’’ said Abbi.
“The Malaysian Open was an exciting competition. And it provided me with opportunities to capture the interesting moments,’’ he said.
Italian Matteo Manassero could not have asked for a better birthday present. The youngster, who turned 18, shot a final round of four-under 68 for a 272 total to win the title by a single stroke.
Danny Chia was the only Malaysian to get past the halfway mark. However, he was unable to maintain momentum and shot a four over 76 on the final day and was tied 42 on 287.
