Syed Danial is new keeper of Rulers' seal


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad has been appointed the new Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, effective Jan 10.

Syed Danial, 66, replaces Engku Tan Sri Ibrahim Engku Ngah who retired yesterday after serving in the post for 22 years.

Assistant secretary of the Conference of Rulers Datuk Sabtu Awab said Syed Danial, who has a Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Malaya and a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the United States, was once the Datuk Paduka Maharaja Lela and Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja at Istana Negara.

“Syed Danial was appointed to the new post at the 222nd Meeting of the Conference of Rulers last year,” he said at a closed-door farewell function for Engku Ngah Ibrahim held at the office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal here yesterday.

He said Syed Danial was appointed to the post on a three-year contract.

Syed Danial, who hails from Penang, was in the civil service for 32 years as an administrative.

He was also a diplomatic officer (PTD) in various ministries, including Housing and Local Government and Home.

According to Sabtu, Engku Ngah Ibrahim, 79, was the longest-serving Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, having held the post since 1989.

Engku Ngah Ibrahim also acted as the secretary to the Conference of Rulers and its spokesman. — Bernama
