IN two weeks, the people in Kg Baru Kundang, near Rawang, will have a new road that leads to Batu Arang and Taman Tasik Puteri.
The 500m road, which is being built at a cost of RM179,000 under the new village development fund, will be a shortcut for those travelling from Kundang to Batu Arang and its surrounding areas.
Kampung Baru Kundang Village Security and Deve- lopment Committee (JKKK) chairman Wong Seng Fock said the residents had been fighting for the road for more than 10 years.
“Previously it was just a path but now all vehicles can use the road,” said Wong, adding that there were 8,000 residents in Kampung Baru Kundang.
The construction started on June 16.
Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah said the state government allocated RM5.4mil annually for new village development projects since 2009.
He said the government’s priority was to focus on infrastructural needs at villages such as roads and drains.
“Last year, we even built bridges in some villages in Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor with the allocation.
“This year, we are going to use the allocation to imrpove the infrastructure in new villages,” he said during a visit to Kampung Baru Kundang on June 18.
