Indonesian students help their countrymen

WHEN the 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck West Sumatra, Indonesia, students of UCSI University wasted no time in starting a series of activities aimed at helping the victims.

The university’s Indonesian Students Association, together with the Student Affairs Office as well as the whole university community, jointly collected donations.

A total of RM5,000 was presented by the Indonesian student representatives and staff to the Indonesia ambassador at the Indonesia Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Aside from the donation, the students also gave away boxes of clothes.

Associate Professor Dr Norfadzillah Hitam, vice-president of corporate affairs Moses Ling Wei, vice-president of student affairs and business development Leonard Lim, head of the international office Ooi Pei Boon, student affairs director and Indonesian Student Association representative Mohammad Shidqy Maulana, a second year Financial Accounting student presented the cheque to Tan Sri Da’i Bachtiar.

Da’i Bachtiar, together with Indonesian Education Attaché Imran Hanafi thanked the university for their generosity.
