KUCHING: An Agrofest seminar to be held in conjunction with this year’s State Farmers’ Day will focus on the livestock sector and its business potential.
The seminar on Nov 2 will provide an overview on the development and potential of the state’s livestock sector.
Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam), which is organising the seminar jointly with the State Modernisation of Agriculture Ministry, said its focus was timely as the livestock sector had been identified as one of 10 priority industries to be developed under the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy.
Topics to be discussed include marketing and environmental issues, financial incentives, loans for farmers and the state’s land policy on livestock sector development.
There will also be sessions for successful farmers to share their experiences in rearing goats and cattle.
Seminar papers will be presented by the Department of Agriculture, Land and Survey Department, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority, Agro Bank and the state Natural Resources and Environment Board.
Besides farmers, those interested in livestock rearing are welcome to attend.
