ASTRO will bring its viewers live telecasts of the UEFA Euro 2008 as well as comprehensive coverage of the Beijing Olympics this year.
“Out of 31 UEFA matches, we will be broadcasting live from Austria and Switzerland 10 of these matches. We will also have live comprehensive coverage of the Beijing 2008 Olympics and 10 interactive channels to broadcast this event,” Astro chief executive officer Rohana Rozhan said.
Rohana was speaking at an event held to announce Astro's efforts to bring subscribers better quality programmes on its sports channels.
She added that there would be 45 other sports like tennis, baseball, golf, football, rugby, wrestling and badminton to be shown on Astro's sports channels known as Stadium Astro.
“Seventy per cent of the 2.3 million Astro customers subscribe to sports. Other than the regular sports channels, they will also get to view our dedicated channels with interactive applications for big sports events,” Rohana said.

“Via red button applications, subscribers can enhance their viewing experience by chatting and even watching two channels at one time,” Rohana said, adding that this is available for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2008 matches on its four dedicated channels.
