KEPALA BATAS: Police have arres-ted the six men who allegedly posed as policemen and robbed foreign workers at construction sites here.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdullah Tuanku Said (pic) said their leader, a 37-year-old carpenter, was arrested on Sunday at 2pm in Paya Keladi Hujung here.

“He bolted from his house when he saw us but we caught him after a short chase,” he said.

He said the suspect led police to another five youths aged between 15 and 17 inside the same house where the first suspect was seen.

ACP Wan Abdullah said police re-covered several items, including po-lice vests, a baseball cap, a baton, three wallets, a pair of black shoes, a watch, an army identity card, photocopies of police authority cards, four cellular phones, several handcuffs, police note books and a knife.

ACP Wan Abdullah said three men had posed as policemen and robbed a 38-year-old Bangladeshi and his friend of cash, cellular phones and passport at their kongsi in Bertam Perdana at 4.30am.

“With the arrest of the six, we be-lieve that we can solve at least five cases.

“We also believe they are up to the same tricks in other neighbouring districts,” he added.
