ALOR STAR:The Kedah Sultan is conferring Datukship on 72 recipients in conjunction with his 80th birthday celebration today.
Top on the list are state speaker Datuk Md Rozai Safian, state MCA chairman Datuk Beh Heng Seong and Padang Terap MP Datuk Ghazali Ibrahim who would be receiving Dato Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim (DHMS) award that carries the title Datuk Paduka.
Army chief Lt Jen Datuk Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Malaysia National De-fence University vice-chancellor Lt Jen Datuk Ismail Samion and Datuk Abdul Rahman Ismail from Selangor would be receiving the Darjah Gemi-lang Seri Mahkota Kedah (DGMK) award that carries the title Datuk Wira.
A total of 66 people would be receiving the Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) award that carries the title Datuk.
Among them are Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah’s siblings Tunku Bishara and Datin Tunku Badriatuljamal Almarhum Sultan Badlishah.
Other recipients are Kulim assem-blyman Boey Chin Gan, Bukit Lada assemblyman Ariffin Man, Padang Serai MCA chief Goh Ten Hock, Kedah MIC advisor K. Subramaniam, and Kedah Gerakan secretary Ch’ng Boon Chye.
Police officers receiving the DSDK award are Kedah special branch chief SAC (II) Abu Bakar Ahmad, Sabah police commissioner DCP Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim and Kelantan police chief SAC (I) Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi.
District officers receiving DSDK are Abdul Rahman Ahmad from the Kulim district, Khazali Din from Kuala Muda and Khairuddin Zain from Padang Terap.
Other DSDK recipients include Anti-Corruption Agency investiga-tions division director Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdul, Kolej Universiti Insa-niah deputy rector Abdullah Mat Akhir, Foreign Ministry’s South-east Asian secretary Ambassador Ramlan Ibrahim, Local Government and Housing Ministry secretary-general Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail, Higher Education Ministry secretary-gene-ral Datuk Dr Zulkefli Hassan, Land and Mines director-general Datuk Zoal Azha Yusof, Malaysia Fisheries Development Board director-general Mustafa Ahmad, Mineral and Geoscience Department director-general Yunus Razak, and TV3 operations director Datuk Anthony Firdauz Bujang.
Other DSDK recipients are Kedah Health Department director Dr Has-nah Ismail, Prime Minister’s senior confidential secretary Ahmad Yaa-cob, Deputy Prime Minister’s senior confidential secretary Datuk Aziz Kassim and Kedah Agro Industries Bhd chief executive officer I Ting Tan Ah Kee.
An Honorary DSDK award would be given to Fuji Electric (M) Bhd managing director Kozo Katarao.
Among the 30 Jaksa Pendamai (JP) recipients are state executive councillor Datuk Chong Itt Chew, Kedah Puteri chief Shahanim Yusof and Guar Chempedak assemblyman Datuk Abdul Razak Hashim.
