MOTORISTS driving along on the Plus (Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan) highway were pleasantly surprised when they were handed free copies of The Star at the Damansara toll plaza in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.

The University College Sedaya International (UCSI) gave out 10,000 copies of the newspaper with a special “Drive Home Safely this Festive Season” sticker on the front page and safe driving leaflets as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment.

Here you go: Rachel Teh handing out copies of The Star to a PLUS highway user at the Damansara toll plaza.

UCSI local marketing manager Rachel Teh said the Hari Raya Haji holiday was a good time to be reach many people as they used the highway to travel back to their hometowns.

“This is the first time we're doing it and it's a good way to educate the public about safety on the road and we might do it again next year,” Teh said.

Another ongoing CSR project carried out by the UCSI pharmacy student society is an annual health campaign that is in its sixth year.

“We usually have it in the Klang Valley but this year, we had it in the Jusco Kinta City in Ipoh. It was very well received and we plan to have it in Johor Baru next year,” Teh said.
