PENANG: Tuesday’s blackout that affected Penang island, Seberang Prai and southern Kedah was caused by an electrical flashover (an abnormal electrical discharge) at Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s main intake substation in Juru.
The company, in a statement issued from Kuala Lumpur yesterday, said following the flash-over, an immediate power tripping of the substation had occurred.
