Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Mustafa Abdullah said the Cabinet wanted the police to take the leading role in managing border security.
He said security loopholes had to be plugged to check drug trafficking, human trafficking, weapon smuggling and other activities that posed a threat to national security.
