PENANG: The less than pristine pirated DVDs or “shoot” copies of hit movies are usually recorded illegally in countries such as the Philippines and China.
A pirated optical disc distributor, who declined to be named, said the original footage of the shoot copies was recorded using hi-definition video cameras or cell phones in third world countries where security in cinemas were lax.
