PENANG Road Safety Council will organise the Penang Auto & Road Safety Show (PAROS) 2007 on June 22 at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA).
Council chairman Datuk Koay Kar Huah said the three-day event would emphasise on road safety programmes.
“There is a fatal road accident reported daily,” he said, adding that accidents involving cars had claimed the lives of 347 Penangites last year in which 10% of the victims were pedestrians.
“Statistics also revealed that over 50% of fatal accidents in-volved motorcyclists,” he said at a press conference recently.
He said the event would be jointly organised by Penevents Sdn Bhd, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry and Motorcycle & Scooter Assemblers and Distributors Association of Malaysia (MASAAM).
“Besides the road safety show which will feature exhibitions and talks, there are also booths manned by the police and the Road Transport Depart for the public to check and settle their summonses while Puspakom and AAM will be present talks to the public on car safety and maintenance,” he said.
