LONG after sundown, devotees were still trudging up to the Jade Emperor Pavilion or Thnee Kong Thnua on Penang Hill to offer prayers on the eve of the Jade Emperor’s birthday.
Thousands thronged the temple throughout Sunday to pay homage to the Jade Emperor whom the Hok-kiens regard as the God of Heaven who saved their ancestors from pro-secution in ancient China.
