Jalan Pusing to reopen soon

Tronoh assemblyman Datuk Lee Kon Yin said repair work was a week behind schedule due to construction of a bigger box culvert.

“I requested the Public Works Department to build a bigger box culvert to accommodate more water,” he told repor- ters after visiting the site on Monday.

He assured the public that the stretch would reopen soon and urged them not to blame the department for the delay.

Since the closure of the 100m stretch, motorists from Lahat have had to take a 2km detour via the Ipoh-Lumut road to get to Pusing and vice versa.

The sinkhole, which is 15m wide and 3m deep, appeared following the collapse of the box culverts used to direct the flow of underground water.

The closure affected about 4,500 residents of Taman Seri Pengkalan and those working at factories in the Rima Industrial Park and Pengkalan Industrial Park.
