Billboards removed

MORE than 1,000 billboards put up without a permit from the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK) have been dismantled and removed. The billboards, which were put up by traders, businessmen and even ‘Ah Longs’ were found at road junctions, housing estates and also in the Sungai Petani town centre.

The action to remove the billboards started last week. A check by The Star on Wednesday showed some council workers still on their rounds dismantling billboards, which were either haphazardly put up or were obstructing the area.
