BUKIT MERTAJAM: The state Customs Department foiled a smuggling bid believed to be run by a group of people with the seizure of contraband beer and cigarettes worth RM1.7mil.
Department director Datuk Sudin Sahak said the smuggled items were seized from five containers at the North Butterworth Container Ter-minal (NBCT) on three occasions on Feb 12, Feb 14 and Feb 28.
