PENANG: Emeritus Professor James Roland Lawrence from Australia, who has been conferred an honorary doctorate degree by Universiti Sains Malaysia, called on medical science lecturers to adopt a parental role when handling undergraduates.
Prof Lawrence, 75, said the role would bring joy and rewards, just like parenting a family.
