VARIOUS health-related issues, from sex education to the proposed National Health Insurance, will take centre stage at a conference organised by the Asian Institute for Development Communication (AIDCOM) in August.
HealthCom 2005 is scheduled to take place on Aug 16 and 17 at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Conference manager Hairudin Masnin said AIDCOM decided to organise the conference to emphasise the importance of communication between doctors and patients.
“In line with this, we will be bringing in experts from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kuwait, Sweden and Thailand to share with us their input on the importance of the doctor-patient relationship,'' said Hairudin.
He added that the experts would also be speaking on sex education, telemedicine, online drugs and traditional medicine among other things.
Special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Asia Dr Nafis Sadik will deliver the keynote address.
