The popular ''all-you-can-eat'' promotion is back at the Peach Garden Chinese Restaurant, Hotel Istana. Indulge in succulent dim sum served specially for breakfast and lunch. Fresh seafood and juicy meat are used as stuffing for the fried or baked dim sum. The hot favourites include Glutinous Dumplings served with Chicken Floss and Deep-fried Shrimp Dumplings served with Salad Sauce. The promotion is priced at RM38++ per person. THAI 

COCA RESTAURANT, U1-F-OB2, Oasis Boulevard 2, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre, Bandar Sunway (Tel: 03-7494 4844). Business hrs: Daily (11am-11pm). There are five other outlets in KL Plaza, Subang Parade, Bangsar Shopping Centre and Genting First World. Popular for its use of fresh ingredients and sauces imported directly from Bangkok. Known among regulars for its special Thai sauces. For lunch and a quick meal, there are Thai food and steamboat. A daily buffet lunch featuring 27 items is available between 11am and 5pm.  

INDIAN 

S. SUBHANI CURRY HOUSE, Jalan Opera E (U-2/E), Taman Tun Dr Ismail Jaya, Shah Alam (Tel: 016-651 7990). Business hrs: Daily, 24 hrs. Sister outlets in Pandan Indah, Banting, Klang and the Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Area. Offers a good mix of authentic Northern and Southern Indian fare featuring a wide range of chicken and fish dishes, vegetable dishes and soups. Its speciality dish is the Ikan Steam Limau, which is served only after 3pm. The Fish Head Curry is an absolute must-try and goes well with a glass of the outlet's famous ‘rasam’.  

SEAFOOD 

RESTORAN TASIK INDAH, Taman Tasik Tengah, Jalan Indah, Seksyen 14, Shah Alam (Tel: 03-5519 9388 / 03-5519 8388). Business hrs: Daily, lunch (noon-2.30pm); dinner (6pm-11.30pm). Features a wide variety of sea and freshwater seafood cooked either grilled, baked, steamed or fried in Chinese, Malay or Thai style. Traditional Malay dishes are included in the menu with the special ‘kampung’ style menu promoting signature dishes of every state. Set lunch from Monday to Friday (noon-2.30pm).  

MEXICAN 

LAS CARRETAS RESTAURANT AND BAR, 14, USJ10/1E, Subang UEP (Tel: 03-5637 3058) & 22 Persiaran Ampang, KL (Tel: 03-4257 1668). Business hours for both outlets: Mon-Sat, lunch (11.30am-2.30pm); dinner (6pm-10.30pm) Sunday and Public Hol (5pm-10.30pm). The dishes are spicy with the mushroom soups highly recommended. The main menu features Chicken Fajitas, the must-try Beef Backribs and the Nachos Muchos. Also known for its El Presidente Magarita and the new French cuisine selections.  

NYONYA 

RESTAURANT NYONYA, No. 21 Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin, KL. (Tel: 016-3350 807 or 03-2143 0100). Features Peranakan cuisine, a combination of hot and spicy delights with zesty additions of lemon, ‘limau kasturi’ and the sourish taste of tamarind juice. Most of the recipes are from one of the owner's mother. Plant roots serve as the main ingredients in the cuisine.  

RESTAURANT TANJUNG BUNGAH NYONYA CUISINE, 117 Jalan SS2/6, PJ (Tel: 03-7877 4531). Business hrs: Mon-Wed & Fri-Sun, lunch (11.30am-3pm); dinner (6pm-10pm). Closed on Thursday. Non-‘halal’. Serves fish intestines and several ‘assam’ dishes like the Nyonya Ikan Perut and Assam Prawns in Ulam Sauce. Its Fish Head Curry is also a popular item. While there, try asking for some of the recipes that are cooked using Yuen Chun sauce such as the Nyonya Style Chicken, Fish Skin In Oyster Sauce and the Tofu with Minced Chicken.  

ITALIAN 

ANTONIO'S CALABRIA, 32 Jalan Wan Kadir 4, Off Jalan Damansara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, KL (Tel: 03-7725 4164). Business hrs: Daily, lunch (11pm-2.30pm); dinner (6pm-11pm). Pork-free. Serves good Italian food that is not restricted to pastas only. Specialises in Southern Italian cuisine, with favourites including Breaded Mushrooms and its Italian dough pizza. Desserts feature house favourite Tiramisu.  

VILLA DANIELI, Sheraton Imperial, Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL (Tel: 03-2717 9922). Business hrs: Mon-Fri, lunch (noon-2.30pm); dinner (6.30pm-10.30pm). Pork-free. Offers truly Italian cuisine with highlights such as Ricotta Tortelloni with Vegetable Ragout and Braised Lobster with Capsicum complemented by fine wines. There is the unmistakable scent of wood fire cooking at the kitchen.  

MEDITERRANEAN 

PUZZINI, 58 Jalan SS21/58, Damansara Utama, PJ (Tel: 03-7727 8600). Business hrs: Daily, lunch (11am-3pm); dinner (6pm-10pm). Pork-free. Does delivery services for nearby areas. A quiet diner that serves a variety of pizza, pasta and Swedish cuisine at reasonable prices. The place to visit if you're into fish, cream, potatoes and eggs. There are also several creative tasting pizzas. Popular for its set lunches and dinners with different choices to mix and match. 

BINTANG SHACK, Lot 534 Jalan Bukit Bintang, KL (Tel: 03-2142 4009). Business hrs: Daily (11.30am-2am). Pork-free. A trendy dining-under-the-star outlet. Boasts many specials including Fresh Handmade Bread, meats, Turkish Lamb Chops, Mixed Meat Grill, Turkish Pizza and Bukhari Rice with Lamb served with salad.  

WESTERN 

SUBWAY, No. 29 Jalan USJ 10/1, UEP Subang Jaya, Subang Jaya (Tel: 03-5635 5076). Pork-free. Serves Subway sandwiches piled with meat, cheese and topped with fresh vegetables and condiments. Main menu are the sandwiches, salads and wraps. There’s also a Kid’s Pack containing a deli style sandwich, cookie and a 12oz soft drink.  

PLANET HOLLYWOOD, 179 Unit G003 Ground Floor, KL Plaza, Jalan Bukit Bintang, KL (Tel: 03-2144 6602). Business hrs: Sun-Thurs (11.30am- 2am); Fri & Sat (11.30am-3am). Kitchen closes at midnight after which only snacks are available. Its main course comes in heavy portions. The popular item during happy hours is the Santa Fe Nacho. Main course features hot favourite Spaghetti Forrestier while the highly recommended desserts are Uncle Allan's Apple Pie and Peach and Banana Crumble. 

FUSION 

BLACK & WHITE CAFة & RESTAURANT, 32 Jalan 1/27F, Section 5, Kuala Lumpur Satellite Centre (KLSC), Wangsa Maju, KL (Tel: 03-4142 3454). Business hrs: Daily (10am-1am). The soothing sounds of relaxing oldies fill the dining area. This outlet is a perfect blend between a café and restaurant with fruit smoothies, imported brewed coffees and tea being its specialities. The place offers a mix of local, Western and Continental dishes.

The centre of attraction at the outlet is the permanent buffet table laden with sumptuous goodies. Additional to these are the a la carte and a children’s menu. There is also the Gourmet Shop for confectionary items, chocolates and other fresh bakery delights.

The menu is associated with the planets, horoscopes or other elements in the universe. The Millennium Chicken for Sagittarius is the outlet's popular dish. Its Italian pastas come with generous amounts of Parmesan cheese and there is a selection of gravy choices. If you crave for a treat, Northern rice dish or Nasi Kandar is recommended.  

JAPANESE 

STARS OYSTER & SUSHI BAR, Lot G48 Ground Floor, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, KL (Tel: 03-2166 5633). Business hrs: Daily (10am-midnight). Offers an al fresco dining concept featuring Oriental favourites, 'sushi', oysters, Asean delights and Western dishes. Live band Guess Who performs from Tuesday to Sunday from 9pm to 11.30pm.  

OISHI, 29-G & 29-1, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, KL (Tel: 03-2287 8113 / 03-2287 9113). Serves modern and traditional Japanese dishes and Western-inspired dishes. A casual smart modern restaurant decorated with a lot of light and dark wood as well as plants. Its Japanese buffet is a hot favourite. There is a live cooking station divided into mini-themes as well as a ‘sushi’ bar. The menu changes weekly though favourite dishes are maintained while the seafood is constantly replenished.  

ZIPANGU, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, 11 Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL. (Tel: 03-2074 3903). Business hrs: Daily, lunch (noon-2.30pm); dinner (6.30pm-10.30pm). Pork-free. Fashioned after the modern Tokyo style brasserie. Serves as a contemporary one-stop entertainment and food outlet. Set lunches come with tea or coffee. Dinner features selections from its a la carte menu with several of the chef’s signature dishes. There’s the Weekend Buffet Brunch (Sat & Sun, 11.30am-3pm). Its Bar Lounge is open from 7pm to 1am daily.  

CHINESE 

FLAME RESTAURANT, 76 Jalan Imbi, KL (Tel: 03-21440575). Business hrs: Daily, lunch (noon-2pm); dinner (6.30pm-2am). Last orders at 1.30am. Non-‘halal’. Specialises in Hot Pot, a dish famous in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. Choose from four soup bases made from special combinations of herbs, spices and pork leg bone. Also offers other varieties of live seafood, local and imported meats and meatballs. Highly recommended are the Flame's Noodles and its signature green tea and Chinese rice wine. 

FOH SAN RESTAURANT, 185 Jalan SS2/24, PJ (Tel: 03-7873 6501). Business hrs: Daily, breakfast & lunch (7am-3pm); dinner (6pm-10pm). Non-‘halal’. The outlet looks like your regular Chinese restaurant and it offers home-cooked food. Most famous on the menu are the ‘dim sum’ items that are prepared fresh and its house speciality, Honey Pork Ribs. The a la carte menu features simple, fast-to-prepare dishes such as Assam Seafood, Stir-fried Ham Choy, Eggplant with Hot Sauce and Claypot Mutton. Chinese tea is available. The outlet is crowded during lunch hour on weekdays and full-house on weekends. 

TI CHEN, Hyatt Regency Saujana, 2km off Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Airport Highway, Saujana, Subang (Tel:03-7846 1234 ext 4177). Business hrs: Tues-Sun, lunch (noon-2:30pm); dinner (6:30pm-10pm). Overlooks two 18-hole world championship golf courses at the Saujana Golf & Country Club. Savour mouth-watering Szechuan and Cantonese dishes that include popular items such as Braised Stew Noodles with Prawns, sweet and spicy Mango Chicken, crunchy Egg Butter Prawns and delicious Herbal Chicken Soup.
