Study on wild orchid species

THE Society of Regional Environmental Aware-ness of Cameron High-lands (Reach) expects to finish its year-old study on identifying and documenting wild orchid species by next year.

Its vice-president Embi Abdullah said the study, which has documented over 580 wild orchid species so far, has already shown that 20 species are highly endangered or on the verge of becoming extinct due to development or unsustainable harvesting.
