Kuantan farmer injured in abdomen after being stabbed by acquaintance

KUANTAN: A farmer was injured in the abdomen after being stabbed by an acquaintance in Kampung Sri Damai, Jalan Gambang, near here.

Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said the incident happened around 7 pm on Friday, when the 38-year-old victim met the 25-year-old suspect in front of his house.

He added that the incident unfolded when the suspect asked the victim to come with him, claiming that a friend wanted to meet him.

"When the victim refused, the suspect pulled out a five-inch knife from his pants and stabbed him in the abdomen," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 2).

As a result of the stabbing, the victim sustained a tear in the middle of his abdomen and sought treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here.

Following the attack, the suspect, who is unemployed, was arrested. The motive is believed to stem from the suspect's resentment over the victim allegedly reporting his banned substance use to the police.

Ashari said the man has been remanded for four days until Tuesday to assist in the investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code. - Bernama
