SEREMBAN: A Palestinian couple pursuing their post graduate degrees at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia in Nilai have been killed in bomb blasts in Gaza.

Also killed in the attack - believed to have been carried out by Israeli forces - were the couple's four children.

USIM in a statement identified the deceased as Mohamad J.H. Alzaanin, a PhD candidate pursuing a programme in human resources management and his wife Kholoud M.H. Elzaneen who was pursuing a Master's in Science (Research Mode).

The attack was carried out in their village in Bait Hanon around 8am on Sunday (Oct 8).

USIM said the matter was confirmed by Palestinian Students in Malaysia Association president Ammar H.M. Mahariq.

USIM said according to Malaysia-Palestine Cultural Organisation chairman Badereddin Seyam, 20 of the couple's relatives were also killed in the attack.

Only one of the couple's children reportedly survived the attack.

"Mohamad had just completed his viva-voce session at USIM on July 5 while his wife was due to do so on Oct 23," USIM said.
