Johor cops arrest woman for driving against traffic on EDL


JOHOR BARU: The police have arrested a 62-year-old woman who drove against traffic along the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the police detected a 26-second video on social media where a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was seen driving against traffic and almost causing an accident on the EDL.

"We were able to identify the car seen in the video.

"Following investigations, we located the car's owner and arrested her at her house in Larkin at about 2.30pm on Friday (May 6)," he said in a statement on Friday (May 6).

He noted that the incident took place at about 10pm on Thursday (May 5).

"The woman was arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act and her car has also been seized," he added.

He reminded the public that those found violating Section 42 of the Road Transport Act could face a maximum five years' jail sentence and minimum RM5,000 fine as well as lose their license for two years.
