Marine animal carcass unsettles Tanjung Bungah beachgoers

GEORGE TOWN: A dead sea creature, believed to be a dolphin, has been found on a beach in Tanjung Bungah, causing a stir among beachgoers.

Four uniformed men said to be from the Fisheries Department were seen burying the carcass in a picture shared recently by the Tanjung Bungah Residents Association on its Facebook page.

The animal's cause of death remains unknown.

However, a cut on its lower body that exposed the animal's innards has led to speculation that the injury was caused by a boat’s propeller.

It was not known when the carcass was found.

Dolphins are commonly found swimming in the North Channel near the Tanjung Tokong-Batu Ferringhi tourist belt.
