Rado tells C.Y. LEE that actress Tang Wei is the perfect brand ambassador for it, being an artist who is always innovating and reinventing herself.
IN 2014, the talented and graceful Chinese actress Tang Wei inked a three-year agreement with Rado to be the brand’s ambassador. It’s a partnership that Rado CEO Matthias Breschan describes as a “perfect match”.
Tang Wei, he says, reflects Rado’s brand values.
”I think whenever you choose an ambassador, it’s a given that the person is famous. But most important is that the choice is credible, authentic and understandable to the consumer.
“She is an actress who always tries to innovate. Somebody who takes risks and tries out new things, improving and moving forward to innovate and reinvent herself permanently,” he explains.
“Like us, Tang Wei is also very focused on the future and always striving to innovate, to do something new. We believe she is a perfect fit for Rado,” Breschan stresses.
One of China’s leading actresses, Tang Wei is recognised for her acting ability and her bravery in selecting roles. Although she studied to become a film director at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, she found her calling on the other end of the camera.
She made her sensational debut in 2007 in Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution.
According to the actress, Rado first caught her attention when she discovered that it launched its first advertisement in China in 1979 – the year she was born. Yes, both she and Rado were “born in China” in the same year.
“I’ve known the Rado brand since I was little, so there is a sense of reminiscence, and I know it is a watch brand of great quality,” Tang Wei says.
“But I never imagined that I would become good friends with Rado, and get the chance to get to know them better. It is a real honour.
“What I really like, which reflects what I believe in, is the motto of Rado: ‘If we can imagine it, we can make it. If we can make it, we will.’ This is a saying that I firmly believe in,” she says.
“If you have a dream, there must be a way to realise it. This was an immediate partnership chemistry for us,” Tang Wei states.
She confesses to never having worn a watch until recently, after realising that time has became more and more important to her.
“I realised that time was what I needed to be in charge of in my life, and that was when I discovered that I needed to wear a watch. I wear mine when I go out, and it should not only match my outfits, but it should also be minimal and practical.
“It has to be comfortable to wear, just like having a close friend,” she points out.
Commenting on her new timepiece, the award-winning actress says: “Ever since I joined the Rado family last year, there has been a strong bond between my high-tech ceramic watches and myself.
“The watches are extremely comfortable to wear, versatile and glamorous. In my view, a plasma high-tech ceramic watch is without doubt a must-have.
